HHS, the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology and the Society for Healthcare Epidemiology of America have awarded the 2013 Partnership in Prevention Award to the Madison-based University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics for sustainable healthcare-associated infection reduction.
The award honors the hospital that has created the most effective plan using concepts contained in HHS' National Action Plan to Prevent Health Care-Associated Infections: Roadmap to Elimination.
In particular, UWHC has made strides in sepsis management, ventilator-associated pneumonia and hand hygiene, according to a news release.
