The Save Lives: Clean Your Hands global annual campaign, launched for the first time in 2009 by the World Health Organization, is launched every year on May 5 with a focus on "bringing people together to improve and sustain hand hygiene," according to a WHO news release.
The Save Lives: Clean Your Hands campaign is an opportunity to:
• be part of a global movement to improve hand hygiene;
• be one of the leaders helping to prevent healthcare-association infection;
• receive support for moving from commitment to action at the point of patient care;
• share knowledge and successes with others;
• join a network of countries that have already committed to sustained hand hygiene campaigning;
• demonstrate commitment to making patient safety a priority.
