The Georgia Senate has unanimously approved a bill that would give hospitals expanded options for accreditation, according to an Access North GA report.
Currently, The Joint Commission is the only accrediting body referenced under Georgia law. The bill, sponsored by Sen. Butch Miller (R-Ga.), would allow hospitals to undergo accreditation by other nationally recognized accreditation entities.
The bill is now headed to the state House of Representatives.
