Fibromyalgia patients' satisfaction with their treatment is predictable through consideration of pre-treatment, patient-specific factors, according to a study in the journal Clinical and Experimental Rheumatology.
German researchers collected data from fibromyalgia patients on age, gender, education, health status, pain, diagnosis timing, anxiety and depression.
Time since fibromyalgia diagnosis, health status improvement since fibromyalgia diagnosis, lower depression levels and more treatments used predicted higher patient satisfaction for subsequent fibromyalgia treatments.
The authors concluded that treating fibromyalgia patients for depression could be very effective for improving patients' satisfaction with their fibromyalgia care.
