Ebola test results due today for patient at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital

Dallas-based Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital has placed a patient in isolation, as the patient's travel history and symptoms raised concern about the potential for Ebola virus disease, according to a report from The Dallas Morning News.

The hospital is following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to keep the patient, other patients and employees safe, according to the report.

Texas Health Presbyterian expects test results back from the CDC Tuesday.

If the patient does test positive for the Ebola virus, it would be the first confirmed case in the U.S., although other Americans who contracted the disease in West Africa have been returned to the U.S. for treatment. Currently, Emory University Hospital in Atlanta is treating an Ebola patient, and NIH Clinical Center in Bethesda, Md., recently admitted an American volunteer physician who was exposed to Ebola.
