Seven things to know about the coronavirus.
1. The CDC and the U.S. confirmed the 6th U.S. case and first person to person transmission in the U.S. on Jan. 30. Here, a woman who had traveled to China infected her husband. The woman is from Chicago, according to NBC Chicago.
2. Many of the largest companies with operations in China are particularly cautious regarding the impact of the virus on their results and operations in China. For example, McDonald's, Disney, Tesla and Apple have large operations in China.
3. Throughout the world there are somewhere between 8,000 and 9,000 confirmed cases, according to the New York Times.
4. The development of any new potential epidemic or pandemic leads to fascinating other issues. See, for example, an article in the Quartz Daily titled, "How China can build a hospital for Coronavirus in a week." The claim may be exaggerated but has fascinating information about a pre-fabricated building.
5. The development also leads to great concern about preparedness in the U.S. for an epidemic.
6. The World Health Organization just declared on Thursday the Coronavirus a public health emergency of international concern.
7. As China has the world's second largest economy the virus has large impacts on economics as well as health.
