Northampton, Mass.-based Cooley Dickenson Hospital has renewed its contract with DebMed to use its Group Monitoring System, an electronic hand hygiene monitoring system that can observe all of the World Health Organization's five moments for hand hygiene.
Cooley Dickenson has been using the system since 2011, and the new contract is good for three years.
"Electronic monitoring of hand hygiene is a key component to achieving our goal of eliminating hospital-acquired infections," said Linda Riley, MEd, RN, manager of infection prevention at Cooley Dickenson. "The results we've achieved help us continue to deliver the best quality of care for our patients, especially with our focus on higher clinical standards for when staff need to clean their hands."
The DebMed system is the only electronic monitoring system that captures all hand hygiene moments in the guidelines from the WHO and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
