Health officials in the Democratic Republic of Congo confirmed 14 new Ebola cases in a single day, which marks the largest such increase since the outbreak started in August, reports Reuters.
The new cases bring the outbreak's total to 713 confirmed and probable infections, along with 439 deaths.
Congo's health ministry said nine of the new cases occurred in the city of Katwa just outside Butembo, which sits near the Ugandan border and is home to several hundred thousand people.
