Twenty-nine hospitals in Oregon joined more than 1,600 hospitals across the nation in kicking off the Partnership for Patients initiative today with a nationwide webcast, giving participants an introduction to the program and advice on how to get started.
The Oregon Association of Hospitals & Health Systems and the Health Research and Education Trust of the American Hospital Association will provide resources and support to help Oregon healthcare providers improve safety and quality while reducing healthcare costs. Over a two year period, participating hospitals will aim to decrease harm by 40 percent and hospital readmissions by 20 percent through the Partnership for Patients program. If the goals are achieved, the program has the potential of saving $35 billion and 60,000 lives nationally.
