CMS will not report five readmission measures and one complication measure on Hospital Compare in July as it had planned due to categorization issues, according to an AHA News Now report.
CMS wrote in a notice that it will not post the measure due to problems with categorizing hospitals' rates as better, worse or no different than the national average, according to the report. CMS plans to recalculate the hospital categories, provide new hospital-specific reports and conduct a new 30-day preview period, which will not affect the calculation for payment penalties under the Hospital Readmissions Reduction Program, AHA News Now reported.
The following measures are affected:
• Heart attack readmissions
• Heart failure readmissions
• Pneumonia readmissions
• Hip and knee replacement readmissions
• Hospital-wide readmissions
• Hip and knee replacement complications
