CMS plans to remove data on eight hospital-acquired conditions gathered from hospitals nationwide from its hospital comparison website while a new set of conditions to monitor is formulated, according to a Boston Globe report.
First posted online in 2011, the current set of conditions reported by hospitals includes infections and mismatched blood transfusions, according to the report. CMS is revising what data is collected because of redundancies among the current eight and input from an advisory panel created by the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, according to the report.
The information will be removed from the website in July, according to the report.
