CMS has suspended use of a quality measure used in the hospital outpatient quality reporting program to measure the percentage of emergency department patients who receive a transition record upon discharge, according to an AHA News Now report.
The outpatient quality measure OP-19 has been temporarily suspended due to measure specification concerns. Hospitals participating in the outpatient quality reporting program must continue to report on this measure but may submit a "dummy" figure. CMS said it would not use or publicly report data on this measure until all specification concerns are resolved.
