CMS Proposes New Rule for Credentialing Telemedicine Providers

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has issued a proposed rule that would make the credentialing process less burdensome for physicians and other clinicians providing telemedicine services for hospitals, according to a report by AHA News Now.

The rule would allow hospitals whose patients receive telemedicine services based out of other hospitals or locations to rely on the other facility's credentialing decision. CMS stated that the credentialing requirements as written are "duplicative and burdensome."
