CMS has announced the launch of its Virtual Research Data Center, an internet portal allowing access to CMS-collected healthcare data for research and analysis.
The VRDC replaces the agency's practice of shipping encrypted files to individuals requesting data. The agency put the VRDC in place to be a secure, less resource-intensive way for the agency to respond to requests for data from researchers, according to a news release.
