CMS announced changes to its Comprehensive End-Stage Renal Disease Care initiative, which involves partnerships between CMS and healthcare providers to test payment and service delivery models to make care for patients with ESRD more patient-centered.
In its original request for applications, CMS required applicants for the initiative to have at least 500 matched beneficiaries. In response to feedback from interested organizations, CMS has lowered the minimum to 350 matched beneficiaries. To maintain accuracy in calculating shared savings or losses for non-large dialysis organizations with 350 to 499 matched beneficiaries, CMS also changed the minimum savings rate in the payment track for non-LDO participants from 4 percent to 4.75 percent in performance years one and two.
Applications for the program are available at http://cmsgov.force.com/rfa/rfarequestlogin. CMS will host a webinar May 8 to review the application process.
