CMS has announced that, due to "required infrastructure system upgrades," the October update to its Hospital Compare website will be limited to two data points: Medicare Spending per Beneficiary and aggregate payment information.
Until the website is updated again in December, data posted in July will continue to display. According to CMS, the following data will be updated during the December full release:
• Centers for Disease Control and Prevention hospital-associated infection data from 2013
• HCAHPS data (including new care transitions module and star ratings) from 2013
• Timely and effective measure data from April 2013 through March 2014
• 30-day outcomes for unplanned readmissions and death rates from July 2010 through June 2013
• Surgical complications for hip/knee from April 2010 through March 2013
• PSI-4 and PSI-90 from July 2011 through June 2013
• Refreshment of Hospital Value-Based Purchasing Data
