Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, N.Y., has adopted barcode technology to help reduce medication errors, according to a Watertown Daily Times report.
The hospital is specifically using the technology in patient identification bracelets. The bar-coded bracelets allow nurses to verify the right medication is given to the right patient. The bracelets are scheduled to go-live in the obstetrics, acute rehabilitation and intensive care units before going hospital-wide.
