CDC unveils measles toolkit: 3 things know

The CDC released a toolkit to help healthcare providers fight measles outbreaks.

Three things to know:

1. The new toolkit includes materials for hospital professionals and staff, including fact sheets on various vaccines, educational posters to display in healthcare facilities and a guide to talking with parents about vaccinating children.

2. For parents, the toolkit includes a vaccination schedule for children between ages 0 and 6, an explanation of the risks of not vaccinating children and an infographic on the dangers of measles.

3. The CDC has reported 1,022 measles cases nationwide as of June 6. If outbreaks continue through the fall, the U.S. may lose the "elimination status" it earned in 2000 when health officials declared measles eradicated from the country.
