The CDC on Friday added four nations to the list of countries pregnant women should avoid visiting.
The agency is advising pregnant women to avoid traveling to Angola, Guinea-Bissau, Maldives and Solomon Islands.
The Zika virus was endemic in these areas prior to the start of the Western hemisphere's outbreak in 2015.
The CDC recommends pregnant women avoid traveling to any area experiencing local Zika transmission. If travel is necessary, the CDC recommends pregnant women see a healthcare professional prior to departure, take precautions to prevent mosquito bites and engage in safe sex.
