Two Banner Health hospitals in Mesa, Ariz., have implemented a patient emergency hotline intended to improve patient safety and satisfaction, according to a Gold Canyon Today report.
Patients and family members who witness deteriorating patient conditions should first call the patient's nurse. If family members are unable to reach the nurse or another provider, they can call a hotline that will trigger a response from a rapid response team. Sheri Dahlstrom, CNO at Banner Desert and Cardon Children's, said the hotline is equivalent to a 9-1-1 call from home.
Details about the hotline are posted in every patient room and on televisions at both hospitals.
