APIC's longtime journal editor to step down

Elaine Larson, PhD, RN, editor of the American Journal of Infection Control, is stepping down Dec. 31.

The American Journal of Infection Control is the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology's peer-review journal.

Dr. Larson has served as editor of the journal since 1995. She is currently professor and associate dean for research at New York City-based Columbia University School of Nursing and Mailman School of Public Health. Over the course of her career, she has received numerous awards, including being honored by the National Academy of Medicine "for extraordinary dedication to furthering science and improving the health of the nation."

Dr. Larson is an expert on infection prevention, antimicrobial resistance and hand hygiene.

"On behalf of the APIC Board of Directors, we want to thank Elaine for her 25 years of service and dedication to growing the American Journal of Infection Control from a small, niche publication to one of the most widely read journals on infection control," said APIC CEO, Katrina Crist. "Because of her vision and leadership, AJIC is now a go-to resource for infection preventionists, epidemiologists, physicians, nurses and public health professionals."
