Akron General, Kent State Form Wellness Collaborative

Akron (Ohio) General Health System and Kent (Ohio) State University have announced a partnership to study and promote wellness.

The Akron General-Kent State University Health and Wellness Research Collaborative aims to improve health and reduce the impact of chronic diseases by promoting physical activity and health lifestyles; integrating public health, basic science and clinical and behavioral research; and developing and promoting evidence-based wellness practices, according to the news release.

Their efforts will be supported by Akron General's three outpatient, community-based Health & Wellness Centers, which include medical fitness facilities and offer a range of medical services, such as diagnostic testing and rehabilitation.

Akron General Health System, the Division of Research and Sponsored Programs at Kent State and the university's College of Public Health will fund the collaborative.
