Adena Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio, is working to lift its "immediate jeopardy" status after state health officials discovered noncompliance to federal health and patient safety standards, according to a Chillicothe Gazette report.
The hospital has until April 27 to rectify security-related concerns investigated by Ohio Department of Health officials. According to the report, state health officials discovered on one occasion a man attempted to steal unsecured medications, syringes, a laptop and other hospital supplies from the hospital. On another occasion, officials found unsecured drugs and syringes in two areas of the hospital.
A hospital spokeswoman said Adena Medical Center is working with a security consultant to rectify all the noted deficiencies before the April deadline. Failure to come to full compliance by the time means the hospital will lose federal funding.
