Actress Patty Duke dies; family cites sepsis as cause

Patty Duke, best known as the actress who portrayed Helen Keller in the film The Miracle Worker, died March 29 at the age of 69. Now, her family is saying she died of complications related to sepsis, Forbes reports.

A statement released by the agency that represented the actress provided addition details in a statement, which said Ms. Duke developed sepsis after her spleen ruptured.

No specifics were given about her complications, but they may include diseases like diverticulitis, appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease, cancer or a Clostridium difficile infection, according to the report.
