The CDC confirmed 60 additional measles cases last week, bringing the national total to 940 as of May 24.
Three updates:
1. New Mexico is now the 26th state to report a measles infection this year. The infection marks the state's first case in nearly four years, reports the Farmington Daily Times.
2. Seven states are also experiencing at least one measles outbreak: New York, Michigan, California, Georgia, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Washington.
3. The 2019 case count is only 23 cases short of the 963 infections confirmed in 1994 — the highest annual total seen in the last 25 years.
