Nine states in the U.S. allow minors to receive vaccinations without their parents' permission, according to a report from The Pew Charitable Trusts.
Four states permit adolescents to receive specific vaccines, while five states allow minors to consent to any healthcare, including vaccinations.
Here is a breakdown of each state:
- California — Children ages 12 and up can receive vaccines related to sexually transmitted diseases without parental oversight.
- Delaware — Children ages 12 and up can receive vaccines related to STDs without parental oversight.
- Minnesota — Children of any age can receive the hepatitis B vaccine without their parents' permission.
- New York — Children of any age can receive vaccines related to STDs without parental oversight.
- Alaska — Children of any age can consent to all healthcare services except abortions.
- Idaho — Children of any age can consent to all healthcare services.
- Alabama — Children ages 14 and up can consent to all healthcare services.
- Oregon — Children ages 15 and up can consent to all healthcare services.
- South Carolina — Children ages 16 and up can consent to all healthcare services.
