6,000 student immunization records missing as school begins in a Maryland county

Prince George's County Public Schools in Maryland is asking more than 6,000 students without immunization records to stay out of school until proper immunization documentation can be presented, according to a local NBC affiliate.

Tuesday was the deadline for parents to provide immunization records. As of Wednesday, 6,363 students had no records of proper vaccination on file with PGCPS.

Executive Director of Student Services at PGCPS, Adrian Talley, told the local NBC affiliate, "If they can't prove they have immunization, then they are excluded until they can prove it."

The Executive Director added that some of the students are likely vaccinated, but lack the appropriate paperwork.
