Each of Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System's five acute care hospitals earned A grades from the Leapfrog Group for patient safety performance.
The Leapfrog Group released its fall 2018 Hospital Safety Grades Nov. 8, assigning A through F letter grades to over 2,600 acute care hospitals for patient safety performance. Leapfrog releases the safety grades every fall and spring based on more than two dozen quality measures, including nurse communication, hand hygiene adherence and surgical site infection rates.
Henry Ford's A grades mark the first time the hospitals have all earned top marks from Leapfrog, making it one of only two health systems nationally to achieve that distinction for this fall's safety grades.
Henry Ford hospitals that received an A grade are:
1. Henry Ford Hospital (Detroit)
2. Henry Ford Allegiance Health (Jackson, Mich.)
3. Henry Ford Macomb Hospital (Clinton Township, Mich.)
4. Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital (West Bloomfield Township, Mich.)
5. Henry Ford Wyandotte (Mich.) Hospital
