26 million people have taken at-home DNA tests

More than 26 million people have taken an at-home DNA test, MIT Technology Review reports.

If the trend continues, MIT Technology Review projects more than 100 million people could take one of these ancestry or health tests within the next 24 months.

Here's how many people had signed up for popular at-home DNA testing services at the start of 2019:

1. AncestryDNA: 14 million

2. 23andMe: 9 million

3. Other: 3.5 million
