The American Association of Critical-Care Nurses recognized 226 units from 161 hospitals with the Beacon Award for Excellence in 2018.
Four things to know:
1. The Beacon Award for Excellence is a three-year recognition for hospitals that use evidence-based practices to improve care outcomes.
2. Hospitals must meet specific criteria across five categories to be eligible for the recognition, which includes bronze-, silver- and gold-level recipients.
3. Fifty hospital units received gold-level Beacon awards in 2018. Cleveland Clinic and Ann Arbor-based Michigan Medicine each had two units attain gold-level recognition.
