2 new cases of mumps detected at Marquette University

Two additional students were diagnosed with the mumps at Marquette University in Milwaukee, bringing the total number of cases reported on campus in recent weeks to three, according to the Journal Sentinel.

"Both (new) cases are linked to an earlier confirmed case of mumps in another student who was identified in January," said Carolyn Smith, MD, medical director for Marquette University, in a campus email Wednesday, according to the Sentinel.

The two recently diagnosed students are reportedly recovering at home. The Milwaukee Health Department is reaching out to known individuals who may have come into close contact with the infected parties.
