2 Legionnaires' cases confirmed at Chicago hospital: 3 things to know

Health officials are testing the water at Chicago-based Mercy Hospital and Medical Center after two patients tested positive for Legionnaires' disease, reports the Chicago Tribune.

Three things to know:

1. State and city health officials visited the hospital April 25 to test the building's water system for Legionella bacteria as part of an ongoing investigation.

2. The water tested positive for Legionella, but the exact source of the infections is still unknown.

3. The hospital is working with officials to strengthen its water management practices. As part of this effort, the facility will replace water fixtures and sink filters as needed.
