The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria needs at least $14 billion to help prevent outbreaks, according to Reuters.
Three things to know:
1. Global Fund Director Peter Sands announced the $14 billion, three-year fundraising target Jan. 11.
2. The global health fund would use the money to help build stronger health systems in low-income countries that are not adequately equipped to address existing epidemics.
3. Mr. Sands said the money could help cut deaths from these three diseases in half, saving 16 million lives.
