The Joint Commission has issued 13 strategies for improving healthcare personnel influence vaccination rates.
The strategies are based on recommendations by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Each strategy is complemented by a description or rationale as well as citation from the CDC's influenza monograph. Strategies include the following:
• Influence vaccination program should be multifaceted.
• Use campaigns to promote influenza vaccination.
• Offer influenza vaccine annually to all eligible healthcare personnel.
• Use modest incentives.
• Use organizational leaders as supportive role models.
