11 Hospitals With Most Transparent Quality and Safety Data

URAC (formerly the Utilization Review Accreditation Committee) and The Leapfrog Group have released the winners of the second annual Hospital Website Transparency Awards Program at The Leapfrog Group's annual meeting.

Winning hospitals have websites that "promote transparency of safety and quality measures in a manner that is useful and user-friendly for consumers," according to a news release. Three of the 11 hospitals received the award "with Distinction," meaning they have taken additional measure to achieve website transparency.

The hospitals were selected from all hospitals that publicly report quality and safety metrics and participated in the 2013 Leapfrog hospital surveying process. The selection process was developed using guidelines on Internet quality reporting from the National Quality Forum and the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality.

• Inova Health System — Falls Church, Va.

• Harlem Hospital Center — New York City

• Mercy Regional Medical Center — Durango, Colo.

• Nationwide Children’s Hospital — Columbus, Ohio

• St. Mary Corwin Medical Center — Pueblo, Colo.

• Texas Children’s Hospital — Houston

• WakeMed Health & Hospitals — Raleigh, N.C.

• Baptist Health South Florida (with Distinction) — Miami

• JFK Medical Center (with Distinction) — Edison, N.J.

• Kaiser Permanente (with Distinction) — Oakland, Calif.
