Seventy-six percent of nurses surveyed were satisfied or very satisfied with their work environments, with only 5 percent reporting being very dissatisfied with their work environment. The top drivers of nurse satisfaction include:

- Caring for patients, helping others or making a difference — 35 percent
- Colleagues, working relationships or team collaboration — 28 percent
- Work/life balance — 15 percent
- Autonomy/voice — 10 percent
- Compensation/benefits — 10 percent
Conversely, the top drivers of nurse dissatisfaction include:
- Poor, unsupportive unresponsive management — 31 percent
- Work overload, high patient-to-nurse ratios and/or long hours — 31 percent
- Low compensation, pay cuts and/or no pay raises — 15 percent
- Inadequate staffing — 15 percent
- Lack of respect and appreciation from management — 14 percent
According to the report, younger nurses (25-34 years old) and male nurses are more likely to be dissatisfied.
