Legionnaires case reported at Arkansas nursing home

A case of Legionnaires' disease was discovered at the Methodist Village Senior Living nursing home in Fort Smith, Ark., health officials told Fox affiliate KNWA.

"We have one resident with a confirmed case of Legionnaires," said Cat Hamilton, the director of member services for the Arkansas Health Care Association, which owns the facility. "We have implemented our water management plan and are working in collaboration with the Fort Smith Utility Department and the Arkansas Department of Health."

The facility itself did not share a comment with the news outlet, however, the state's department of health noted it is working with employees at the nursing home to resolve this.

Details about whether the individual who contracted the case of Legionnaires' disease was an employee or a patient were not immediately available.
