Joint Commission boosts support for unpaid caregivers

In partnership with caregiving platform Archangels, The Joint Commission has launched a Care Badge initiative aimed at supporting unpaid caregivers.

The badge is free for caregivers to download and use on social media, resumes and email signatures to highlight their status as an unpaid caregiver, according to an Oct. 21 news release from The Joint Commission.

Other organizations supporting the badge are the Alliance of Community Health Plans, the American Heart Association, the Association on Aging in NY, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island, Blue Star Families, Care.com, CaringBridge, Hilarity for Charity, the Massachusetts Caregiver Coalition, New York State Office for the Aging and New Hyde Park, N.Y.-based Northwell Health.

Using the badge provides caregivers the opportunity to receive recognition as well as access to resources and support networks, the release said.
