Baptist Health South Florida, Lifepoint to build rehab hospital

Baptist Health South Florida is set to begin construction on a new South Miami, Fla., rehabilitation hospital in partnership with Lifepoint Rehabilitation.

Projected to open in 2026, the hospital will provide rehabilitative care for cardiac, oncology, orthopedic and stroke patients as well as patients with brain and spinal cord injuries, according to a July 23 news release from Coral Gables, Fla.-based Baptist Health.

The 100,000-square-foot facility will include 62 private inpatient rooms, with the capacity for an additional 30, and an adjoining parking garage.

The joint venture hopes to create more than 200 jobs in the South Florida area, the release said.

Lifepoint Rehabilitation is a part of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Lifepoint Health.
