Walgreens has formed a new advisory council with pharmacy school leaders to address staffing challenges and fortify the pipeline of future pharmacists.
The council comprises 17 pharmacy school deans and several senior executives from the retail pharmacy chain.
The group will meet quarterly to discuss strategies to rebuild the talent pipeline, address current staffing challenges, improve pharmacists' job satisfaction and make community pharmacies a practice setting of choice.
John Colaizzi Jr., PharmD, vice president of pharmacy practice at Walgreens, and Angela Kashuba, PharmD, dean of UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in Chapel Hill, N.C., will co-chair the council.
The first meeting is scheduled for early March.
