Sanofi appoints first chief digital officer

Following its peers, Pfizer and Merck, Sanofi has appointed its first chief digital officer, according to Endpoints News.

The France-based pharmaceutical company,  announced Feb. 12 its CMO Ameet Nathwani, MD, would also serve as the company's chief digital officer.

In his new role, Dr. Nathwani will be responsible for integrating Sanofi's portfolio of medications with digital technologies and forging digital partnerships.

Major drugmakers recently have begun to embrace technology, ushering in the era of cloud computing, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
