U.S. pharmaceutical giant McKesson Corp. is moving its headquarters from San Francisco to its existing office in Las Colinas, Texas, in April, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
"We are excited to strengthen our presence in Texas and make Las Colinas our official global headquarters," McKesson CEO John Hammergren said in a statement. "Making this move will improve efficiency, collaboration and cost-competitiveness, while providing an exceptional work environment for our employees."
Most of the Bay Area jobs will be relocated to Texas, but McKesson said it will keep more than 1,400 workers in California, including those with McKesson Ventures and a tech team for an oncology subsidiary.
The decision to move its headquarters is part of McKesson's goal to cut costs by $300 million to $400 million by the end of fiscal year 2021, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
