The sensors, manufactured and sold by DexCom, a San Diego-based diabetes care company, have received FDA approval for OTC use. Abbott Laboratories, another key player in the market, is set to release its own system in the summer of 2024, although pricing details have not yet been disclosed.
Experts estimate the market for these products could encompass up to 100,000 people, including prediabetic individuals and those with diabetes who do not use insulin.
