Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute named Scarborough, Maine-based New England Cancer Specialists its first affiliate member in Maine, the institute said Jan. 25.
The two organizations have been collaborating for over 30 years, but the affiliate membership status ensures continued benefits for New England Cancer Specialist patients.
"We are very pleased to continue working with the physicians and staff of New England Cancer Specialists as they become an affiliate member," Laurie Glimcher, MD, president and CEO of Dana-Farber, said in a news release. "They are a strong partner who share our mission to relieve the burden of cancer for as many people as possible. Through this expanded relationship, we are pleased to extend our expertise and assure exceptional compassionate care for patients in Maine and New Hampshire."
