Duarte, Calif.-based City of Hope has named David Craig, PhD, professor and founding chair of the newly created department of integrative translational sciences within the Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope.
The new department will focus on precision measurement, data science and diversity to improve precision medicine processes and outcomes.
Dr. Craig will also serve as the institute's deputy director of translational sciences and as associate director of data science for City of Hope's comprehensive cancer center in Los Angeles. He stepped into his new role June 30.
Previously, Dr. Craig was co-director of the Institute of Translational Genomics and vice chair of the department of translational genomics at Los Angeles-based Keck School of Medicine of USC. He joins former USC colleague John Carpten, PhD, at City of Hope. The organization appointed Dr. Carpten as director of the comprehensive cancer center, director of Beckman Research Institute of City of Hope and chief scientific officer in April.
