Linda Groah, MSN, RN, will be retiring as CEO and executive director of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses after 17 years at the helm.
Ms. Groah is AORN's longest-serving chief executive, having first stepped into the position in 2007. Throughout her tenure, Ms. Groah played a crucial role in advancing perioperative nursing practice and patient safety initiatives. Notably, she led AORN's transition from issuing "recommended practices" to establishing evidence-based perioperative guidelines.
Previously, Ms. Groah served as a chief nursing officer and COO with Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in San Francisco.
She will retire at the end of this year. AORN said it expects the search and selection process for her successor to take six to nine months.
