Smaller Practices Use Few Patient-Centered Medical Homes Processes, Healthcare Experts Say

Researchers found small- and medium-size physician practices demonstrate scant use of patient-centered medical home practices, according to a study published in Health Affairs.

For their study, researchers studied the use of medical home practices, such as utilization of chronic disease registries and nurse care managers, among 1,344 small- and medium-sized physician practices. Results from their study showed practices used, on average, approximately 20 percent of patient-centered medical home practices included as part of the study.
