Rick Scott, the former CEO of HCA, is a dark horse in the race to capture the Republican nomination for Florida governor in an Aug. 24 primary, according to a report by Forbes.
Mr. Scott, who is running against popular Florida Attorney General Bill McCullum for the GOP nomination, entered politics last year, spending $5 million of his own money on ads attacking the Democrats' health reform bill.
Mr. Scott was forced to resign from HCA in 1997 during a Medicare fraud scandal in which the company paid $1.7 billion in fines and settlements.
