The Office of Special Counsel, the independent agency that protects whistle-blowers, has announced it has obtained "corrective actions" for whistle-blowers who disclosed wrongdoing at the Department of Veterans Affairs.
The OSC has secured more than 25 corrective actions for VA whistle-blowers with retaliation complaints since April 2014.
The OSC provided recent examples of corrective actions it has secured, including one for Mark Tello, a nursing assistant with the VA Medical Center in Saginaw Mich., who was suspended after he told his supervisor "management was not properly staffing the VAMC and that this could result in serious patient care lapses." Under the agreement facilitated by the OSC, the VA agreed to put Mr. Tello in a new position under different management, to rescind his suspension and to award him appropriate back pay.
