New Jersey pharmacy settles false claims case for $625K

A pharmacy in Camden, N.J., agreed to pay $625,000 to settle allegations of billing Medicare and Medicaid for medications that were never dispensed.

The U.S. accused Medsinbox Pharmacy, doing business as Farmacia San Antonio, of seeking reimbursements from Medicare Part D and New Jersey Medicaid for drugs it never provided to beneficiaries. The pharmacy allegedly violated the False Claims Act between 2019 and 2022, the Justice Department said in a Jan. 14 news release.

Inventory records showed discrepancies between medication orders from wholesalers and billing claims, according to the Justice Department.
